Do I need to pay for an End of Tenancy clean?

As a tenant, it is your responsibility to return the property in the same condition in which it was found, less fair wear and tear. Hence, if the property had an End of Tenancy clean carried out for your arrival, then it needs to be left in the same professional standard for your exit.
That being said, the landlord cannot force you to pay for a professional cleaner. As long as you clean it to the same standard that would suffice, and doing so could save you some money.
That being said, without the professional equipment and experience this is almost impossible to do. If it’s not completed to the appropriate standard, the landlord will deduct a significant proportion of the deposit to have it performed on the same day. For our End of Tenancy Cleans, we usually take a £60 deposit to secure the booking, with the outstanding balance due upon completion of the clean. We’ll issue an invoice upon completion of the booking and a receipt once payment has been made. This way you’ll have physical evidence to show your landlord that you’ve had your property professionally cleaned.
No, all the cleaners need is access to the property at the agreed time and instructions on how to lock up the property when leaving. That being said, if possible, we prefer customers to be there at the end of the clean just to ensure they are totally happy with the service provided. We find it saves both parties time in the future when on the exceptionally rare occasion something is missed and the team need to return.
As long as the estate agents are in the vicinity of the property, then we are happy to pick the keys up for an additional £10 fee.
We appreciate the moving house is a balancing act of many parts, and if one thing falls through you might need to cancel or re-schedule the clean. As a result, we remain as flexible as possible. Just give us 48hrs notice ahead of when your clean is scheduled to start and we will return your entire deposit back, so there is no cost to you.
